[Japan Trip Second Week of Sep]9.14-9.17

For Chuseok, I’m going on a trip to Osaka with my family. It’s been a while since I’ve seen them, and it’s my first time traveling with just my aunt and cousin, the four of us women, so I’m really excited. But I’m also a bit nervous since my cousin is only half my age and still a student. Still, the thought of all of us going together makes me happy.

This time, I departed from Terminal 2, but personally, I prefer the lounge at Terminal 1. Nice weather.

This will be my second time visiting Osaka. The first time I went, I got stranded because of a typhoon. I had blonde hair! I can’t believe I had that phase. Anyway, I’ve got to take care of everyone. so I’m taking an earlier flight to wait for them at airport.

But my family’s flight got delayed, so I ended up waiting for a long time. I considered heading to the hotel but it felt like too much back and forth. Instead, I went to an internet cafe inside the airport, which was my first time. How funny that the moment I arrived, I had such a local Japanese experience.

I managed to change our dinner reservation, but when we got to the restaurant, everyone said they couldn’t eat raw food. I thought, "Wait, then why did we come to Japan?" I started worrying about what We'd eat for the rest of the trip.

I stayed at Courtyard Osaka Honmachi this time. The first time I visited Osaka, I stayed near Namba, but I chose this location because I thought it might be too noisy over there. The subway station was right in front of the hotel(but only took it 2 times) and I liked that the neighborhood was quiet. I usually take a lot of photos, but I didn’t have time to take any of the hotel too busy looking after my family.

The second day was all about sightseeing. Originally, we planned to go to Umeda Sky Building to watch the sunset, but since it looked like it would rain in the evening, we decided to go in the morning instead.

After that, we went to HEP Five and had okonomiyaki and takoyaki for lunch.

Then, we went to see Chiharu Shiota's exhibition. I had pre-booked tickets as an early bird. This was the part of the trip I was most looking forward to. I had been following her small art pieces in galleries, so I was excited to finally see her large installation art.

Later, we walked around Dotonbori and Namba, bit of shopping. For dinner, we had wagyu beef. Since everyone couldn’t eat raw food, I was relieved that at least they could still enjoy meat.

On the third day, the temperature hit 34°C. We had planned to go to Universal Studios, but I didn’t go. I’ve been before and it was way too hot....

Instead, I visited a friend who lives just three minutes away from the hotel. Every time I passed by this nice building near convenience store, I felt so envious of whoever lived there, and it turns out my friend lives there! What a coincidence.

My friend treated me to dinner. Since it was Chuseok, the full moon was beautifully up in the sky. Unfortunately, my phone’s camera is broken, so I couldn’t take a picture of it. But the view of Osaka was amazing—such a nice sight to see. Looking out, it seemed like there weren’t many tall buildings in Osaka.

Happy Chuseok! with full moon from Osaka!

On the last day, We had simple breakfast with some bread and then went for a walk to Osaka Castle.

Bread, Espresso and Sakaisuji Club

I was surprised to see many people lining up early in the morning.

A ramen shop, it seemed like a Korean idol had visited before. There were autographs on the wall, but now that I’m 30s, I don’t really know who’s who in the idol anymore. Sigh.

We had some time before the airport pickup. We stopped by a nearby bookstore and cafe.

When we got to the airport, since we were taking separate flights, we decided to spend a bit more time together at the Dior cafe. My family left first, and I stayed a bit longer by myself. Before heading back to Taiwan, I bought a bottle of Kansai Airport edition gin as a favor for a friend.

Bye Osaka!
